About Kanga Gardening

A local, owner-operated grounds-maintenance business

Kanga Gardening is run from Edithvale by its owner, Tim Le Grand, who is on site doing the work himself, not a call-centre dispatching a different crew each week. The business focuses on recurring maintenance for the properties that need reliability, presentation and the right equipment: body corporate and strata complexes, commercial and industrial sites, acreage and lifestyle properties, and office plant displays.

The idea behind Kanga is simple. Most managers and property owners don't want to think about the grounds at all. They want one reliable contractor who turns up, keeps everything presentable, and doesn't create complaints, surprise invoices or admin. So that's how the business runs: a fixed monthly fee, a schedule that suits the site, green-waste removal included, and seasonal condition reporting.

Owner experience

Experience built on the sites Tim maintains

Tim Le Grand founded Kanga Gardening in 2020 and remains the owner-operator on site. He personally assesses and quotes recurring work, carries out the service and reports back to the person responsible for the property. His current experience spans body corporate and strata complexes, commercial and industrial sites, large coastal properties and indoor workplace collections. Kanga is a member of Sustainable Gardening Australia’s Green Gardening Professionals program, a commitment to the soil-first, low-input practices that run through every site program.

His site records cover turf care, pruning, irrigation adjustments, pest and disease monitoring, indoor plant care, pond maintenance and seasonal condition reporting. Tim is based in Edithvale and services south-east Melbourne, the Mornington Peninsula and the Pakenham corridor.

Kanga Gardening carries $20 million Public and Products Liability insurance, and Tim holds a current Working with Children Check, National Police Check and White Card. SWMS documentation is available where required.

Kanga's reviews, directory listings and social accounts can all be checked from one page, Kanga Gardening around the web.

How Kanga runs

Recurring maintenance, held to one standard

Kanga works on recurring programs rather than one-off jobs, because that's what keeps a site consistently presentable and lets the same operator get to know it. Every property is on a set schedule that suits it, with green waste removed each visit and disposed of responsibly, and seasonal condition reports so managers and committees always have a record.

Because one person quotes the work, does the work and stands behind it, accountability doesn't get diluted across a rotating crew. If something's not right, you deal directly with the owner and it gets fixed.

What Kanga does, and doesn't

Grounds maintenance, not landscaping

Grounds maintenance is the recurring care of an established site. Mowing, edging, weed control, pruning and hedging, garden bed care and green waste removal happen on a set schedule, so the property stays presentable all year. Landscaping is the design and construction of new outdoor spaces, such as paving, retaining walls, decking and new garden layouts, usually delivered as a one-off project.

Kanga Gardening is a maintenance business. It takes over sites once they are built or handed over and keeps them in shape, and it does not do landscape construction.

Published writing

As featured in Australasian Leisure Management

Tim writes about grounds maintenance for trade and industry publications. His article The grounds of a venue are part of the welcome, published in Australasian Leisure Management in September 2026, looks at how paths, signage, lawns and entry gardens shape a visitor's first impression of a pool, a gym or an event venue before they reach reception. He also writes for community papers. His piece Reading the signs of spring in a Hills garden (PDF, page 23), in the October 2026 edition of Eastern Ranges News, explains why spring reaches each part of a hillside garden at a different pace, where frost settles on a clear night, and how to tell when a bed is ready to plant. He wrote a second piece, on a weekend spring reset for Dingley gardens, for the October 2026 edition of the Dingley Dossier, published by the Dingley Village Neighbourhood Centre.

Local suppliers

The local businesses behind the work

Every product on a Kanga round comes from a supplier we genuinely buy from, most of them within twenty minutes of base. Supporting the local trade network is part of how the business runs.

One contractor for the grounds. One less thing to manage.
